Tom Duym

Fisheries Education Specialist

Tom Duym is the Fisheries Education Specialist for Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries. His background in public vocational education spans 37 years at both the Community College and secondary school levels. His experience runs the gamut from boat building and repair to construction of fishing gear and skippering vessels in commercial fishing and passengers for hire. Tom is a graduate with an AS from the former Commercial Fishing and Marine Technology Program at the University of Rhode Island and a BS in Secondary Science Education from the University of Maine. His career started at Washington County Community College teaching in the Commercial Fisheries Program and then as Director of WCCC’s Eastport Marine Trade Center campus has exposed him to a wide and diverse network of marine professionals.  Tom comes to MCCF from teaching the Marine Trades programming at Deer Isle-Stonington High School over the last 17 years. His working relationships with many of the current fishermen in the area afford timely and knowledgeable feedback for our educational programming. Tom was one of the founding visionaries behind the Eastern Maine Skippers Program. A Maine native, Tom now resides in Lemoine, Maine.
