Tate YoderMedia Specialist
Tate Yoder is Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries’ Media Specialist. Having recently graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a B.A. in New Media, Tate joins MCCF eager to incorporate new and applicable media and design strategies to assist our Program Team, educational and organizational ventures, and the fishing communities at large. The person behind the camera on all “Ask Leroy!” episodes, Tate also works to bring imagery and visual stories from the field to our audiences and increase interaction between MCCF and surrounding coastal communities. From an early passion for visual storytelling, his independent and freelance production endeavors with many Maine-based nonprofits and businesses have given him the ability to establish himself as an up-and-coming multimedia storyteller in the state. Though he’s been told frequently that he wouldn’t be able to find this type of work in Maine, his stubborn persistence, love for the region, and fascination with Maine, its people, and their connection to the natural world has pushed to prove those voices wrong. Tate firmly believes there is much untapped potential to utilize media in this realm of collaborative management and collaborative science to better incorporate fishermen’s voices to sustain Maine’s coastal fisheries.
