
Dave Thomas
OfficerDave Thomas (F/V Just a Pluggin’), Vice Chair, fishes for lobster out of Islesford on Little Cranberry Island. Dave arrived there in 1973, and taught at the community school for 2 years before deciding to go fishing. From 1975-81 he worked in different fisheries, including gillnetting, groundfishing and scalloping. Since 1981 he has been solely reliant upon lobsters for his livelihood.
Dave is a founding member of the Cranberry Isles Fishermen’s Co-Op (1978). He served on the Island Institute Board of Directors for nine years and several community boards and committees. He and his wife Cindy have two adult daughters that both graduated from the Islesford School.
