Ways to Give
Volunteer: If you have a little extra time we can always use volunteers. Doing what you ask? So many things – limited only by your imagination. Here’s some examples:
- Greet visitors in our Discovery Wharf May through October;
- As extra helping hands at events;
- Assisting with general building maintenance such as painting, weeding gardens, planting pots, watering planters, facility clean up, and recycling materials;
- Help us count alewives in the spring;
- Donate your boat and time to help us with our sentinel survey and gear library programs;
- Offer to teach a mini-class for our Eastern Maine Skippers Program students;
- Assist with grant research for our nonprofit;
- Donate items, seafood and experiences for our online auction and raffles;
- Test our innovative lobster gear;
- Bring in touch tank critters.
Making a Gift: Gifts may be made online or by mail to Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries, PO Box 27, Stonington, ME 04681.
Monthly Giving: Your monthly gift will provide a steady stream of support for MCCF. It will also allow you to spread your giving out over a longer period of time. We are looking to find 10 NEW recurring monthly donors in 2024. I hope you’ll consider being one of them.
Please know that you can cancel your recurring donation at any time. Contact Bobbi Billings, Administrative Director at babillings@coastalfisheries.org or call 207.367.2708.
Gifts of Stock or Bonds: A gift of securities will support MCCF and may help you avoid capital gains. Please consult your financial advisor and contact Bobbi Billings, Administrative Director at 207.367.2708 or babillings@coastalfisheries.org with any questions and to obtain routing information.
Donor Advised Fund (DAF): MCCF accepts gifts from all Donor Advised Funds (DAF). Advise your DAF organization with your recommendation to donate to MCCF. A recurring monthly or quarterly gift could also be established.
IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution: If you are age 70 1/2 and have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), you can make a gift to Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries directly from your IRA. This may provide greater tax advantages than other ways of giving. Ask your IRA manager about making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or directing a Required Minimum Distribution to Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries.
Boat Donation: If you have a boat appraised at $15,000 or more that you would like to part with, consider donating it to MCCF and our broker will sell it. Your boat donation may be eligible for a charitable gift deduction. Please consult your financial advisor.
Honorary or Memorial Gifts: Honoring or memorializing someone significant to you with a gift to MCCF in their name is a wonderful way to pay respect and support the communities you both hold dear.
Planned Giving: If you share MCCFs’ vision of securing a fishing future for Maine’s Downeast coastal communities, consider a planned gift in your estate plan. Planned gifts are structured to help you realize the full range of tax and income incentives provided by law while you ensure the longevity and sustainability of our work at MCCF. We would be happy to discuss legacy gifts.
